Business Simulations

  • Business Simulations

We are accredited providers of a range of business simulations from Celemi. These simulations typically involve participants working in small teams, usually in competition with each other, running a business and dealing with a range of internal and external business issues. The simulations typically last between 1 and 3 days, and can be run in their vanilla format or combined with additional content to focus on organisation-specific issues.

Most of these are run in a face-to-face environment although we have a number of digital solutions too. Our main simulations are on this page but contact us if you want more information or want to know how they can be blended with other training needs.

    The buzz about business simulations

Participants work in teams taking on management roles in a fictitious business, identifying organisational issues, and take strategic and operational decisions in order to improve performance. Once the basic business model is understood, new information and issues are introduced, increasing the complexity and challenge. Participants learn through doing, discussion and reflection - in a busy and engaging environment.

  • Business finance for everyone: Apples & Oranges

Participants work in teams to run a business, and learn about the main financial statements, measuring performance through KPIs, how to manage working capital. and identify ways to improve business performance. They also learn how virtually all day to day activities - operational and strategic - affect financial performance. This is a hands-on simulation which embeds learning through practical activities and decision making. There are 3 main variants (see below) plus a digital version that can be run online through Teams or similar.

Apples & Oranges can be run over 1 - 2 days.

    Apples & Oranges Manufacturing

Participants take over the management of a manufacturing business, and learn how to monitor and manage cash flow, resources and productivity. They will learn to create the main financial statements, and then identify a range of KPIs to help identify and improve performance on key aspects of the business. A constant theme is a focus on identifying potential business improvement opportunities.

Decision Base can be run over 1 to 3 days or more, ideally with between 12 and 24 participants, although multiple sessions can be run simultaneously. It is ideal for any business where tangible assets (whether land, machinery, inventory) are significant features of the business.
